A free checklist for business owners

The five-minute
lead-loss checklist.

A customer finds your website. Can they reach the right person? Check these five things before paying for more traffic.

Use your phoneFive practical checksNo email required

Allow about five minutes to work through the checks. If a test message is still pending, follow up before calling that step a pass.

  1. Tap your call button.

Open your website on your phone. Find the call button and tap it. Check the number that appears in the dialer before placing a call. Try the button on the page customers actually visit, not just your homepage.

A good result: the button is easy to find, opens the dialer and shows the correct business number.

  2. Send a test inquiry to your own business.

Use your real form with your own contact details and a message clearly marked “TEST — please ignore.” Look for a confirmation, then check the inbox that should receive it, including spam. Tell the person who manages your reports to identify it as a test.

A good result: the message reaches the right inbox with the details someone needs to reply. A success message on the website is only half the check.

  3. Make your service area obvious.

Read the first screen as a new customer. Is it clear what you do, which neighborhoods or boroughs you serve, and how to contact you? A visitor should not have to guess whether you can take the job.

A good result: the service and real coverage area are clear. Any hours or emergency-service claims match what your team can deliver.

  4. Follow the link customers use.

Open the destination URL listed in your ad account. If the ad offers a specific service, does that page explain the same service and offer a clear next step? If you do not run ads, check the website link in your Google Business Profile or social profile.

A good result: the link works, the page matches the offer, and a visible call or inquiry option works on mobile.

  5. Know who handles a missed call.

Check your voicemail greeting and your missed-call process. Is the business identified? Who receives the notification and calls back? Agree on coverage during the hours your site advertises.

A good result: one person owns the next step. If routing is uncertain, arrange a test call with your team and verify it.

Write down the issue, who owns it and when you will check again. These notes stay on this page; they are not sent or saved.
